Few weeks ago I bought an Aldi Tevion DD1018 DVD recorder and the device works pretty well.
I've connected it to my satellite receiver using composite and audio signals.
Unfortunately when I try to record a program from the satellite, some of the channels turn out to be protected with macroVision. eg. BVN.

Does anyone know how to turn off macroVision on the Aldi Tevion DD1018 DVD recorder ?

    Thanks.

It's probably not possible. I've only heard of some ancient DVD players that are no longer made that allowed you to turn off Macrovision. DVD recorder manufacturers typically obey all the restrictions that Hollywood wants. I have never heard of this BVN. However, if it is truly a Macrovision product, note that Macrovision is one of the most litigious companies in the entertainment industry and they have shown a great willingness to sue anyone who messes with their products. I would find it very hard to believe that some company would deliberately allow users to turn this off on a DVD recorder and risk a lawsuit.

You can just put a macrovision removal box between the source and the recorder - that's what I had to do to transfer some of the video tapes that I wanted to keep that had MV on them to a more modern format. Jaycar used to sell one for about $120-$140 from memory, and they have stores in Australia. Very simple and works fine.
