Hi Guys - have been reading the forum for the past few hours and still unsure as to the solution - so here goes:
I am converting VOB to MOV successfully using ffmpegx and getting some great results.
I have read various threads on here and checked the invert mapping in the audio tab to get the streams the right way around so ffmpegx likes the file.
However - I get a real choppy result out of the other end which is poor and not something I can use.
Would anybody know the next steps - i.e. how to alleviate this choppiness?
Hope someone can help.
Cheers.

1/ 'Invert mapping' only has meaning for ffmpeg presets.Originally Posted by duffymoon
2/ Only activate it if it won't convert without it ('Codec mismatch for mapping'-error).
3/ If you are converting a DVD, one VOB file at a time, then there might be a better way: first create a single big VOB file from each VTS. Benefits: one conversion, smooth transition between parts, and stream mapping won't have to be inverted.Originally Posted by duffymoon
4/ If you are converting in order to import into an editor like iMovie or Final Cut, then DV would be the more logical format.Originally Posted by duffymoon
Is that like less frames per second or some other kind of distorted picture? (Just making sure we're talking about the same thing.)Originally Posted by duffymoon

Thanks Case.
In response/answer to your points/questions:
1. cool - duly noted;
2. got it;
3. makes sense - will give mac the ripper a go to do this;
4. will try this too;
Choppiness - yep, less fps.
Cheers,
Justyn.
