  1. hi there, I'm having a DVD movie with 2 audio tracks. One track is Dutch 2ch (stereo) and another is English 2ch (stereo). I'm having a 5.1 surround soundcard in my pc. Is it possible to play both audio tracks at the same time, where the Dutch 2ch track would be outputted to the front left+right speakers and the English 2ch track would be outputted to the rear left+right speakers? What I want to do is plug 2 headphones in the sound card, one headphone into the FRONT OUT so that I can listen to the Dutch audio track and another headphone into the REAR OUT so that another person can listen to the English audio track at the same time.

  2. You cannot play 2 audio tracks at the same time

You can do a custom mix in audio software e.g. audacity or wavewizard to do the channel mappings

You could decompress to mono wavs channels, and mix & match the channels.

I'm not too familiar with 4ch audio (I've think I've seen it on some foreign DVD's) , but you could use blank audio channel (silence) to fill in the other channels for 5.1 audio mix if 4ch audio doesn't work

  3. I know I could do it that way, but that's really a lot of hassle every time I would want to do this with a DVD with multiple languages.

I'd have to demux, mix the channels, encode a new ac3 and author a new DVD again (which is even harder and expensive if it is a DVD9)

I would like to know if there is some media player or maybe some filters or plugins that could do this on-the-fly. Thanks for your reply though.

    Anyone knows?
