  1. I have tried many things to convert an AVI to a VCD, but up till now without any success.

I have an AVI file of 721.708KB (86.30min). This one is to big for one cd.
That's why I decreased the filesize with Virtual Dub to 670.000kb (80 min). This results in an audio and video sync error.
I repeated this with Nandub and now the result in ok.

The original file and the decreased file aswell can not be converted into a VCD with Nero. In both cases Nero stops with an "error during encoding".

Does anybody know a solution to make Nero convert this file into VCD or know another program that is able to do so?

    Thanks in advance,

    André

  2. I too am having the same problem with Nero. Error during encoding or something to that effect.

I am totally new to this AVI to VCD thing so I am not sure on the limitations and if I need to convert the large file down to a smaller size or something.

If its the latter, can someone point me int he right direction for a utility that I can use to adjust that huge file down to a smaller size? Thanks in advance!

Don't use NEro to convert the file. Look to the left under CONVERT and follow how to use TMPG to encode the file to VCD. Also, look under Sefy's DVD rip Guide (Newbie vers. 2) to see how to enable the SOURCE RANGE function to split your file prior to encoding.

i use to do the same thing, id spend hours decompressing and encoding just to end up with new problems.

the best thing to do before you do anything is to check a place like kazaa or something for .mpeg or .mpg files. that way the only thing you have to wait for is it to download and you have it already for Vcd burning.

i hope this help you. its saved me TONS of time.

  6. I just downloaded the new tmpgenc 2.52 and it works great for converting avi to mpegvcd..make sure you watch for the frame rates i usually see 23.97 or 29.97 ...use the ntsc vcd template with 29.97 or the film template for 23.97 if you have problems with compressed audio use and audio decompressor that comes with avi2vcd program ..hope this helps....oh and by the way you can always use avi2vcd with the audio uncompressed to convert but it takes a long time compared to tmpgenc...
