I am trying to transfer my Sony High Definition camcorder footage, in AVCHD format, from my PC to a DVD using Sony's Picture Motion Browser software and I keep getting this error "Some of the selected media files will not be written to the disc because they are in file formats that are not supported". The files are definitely in the AVCHD format. what i am doing wrong?

I had this problem and just found the cause. I had FFDShow, Haali Media Splitter and AVISynth installed. I uninstalled them temporarily to be able to use Sony Picture Motion Browser and it works great now.
I haven't gone back to figure out which one of the three was the one causing conflicts so I'll leave that up to you to findPanasonic 50" (TH-50PZ800U) -
its haali mediasplitter. just did the same thing you did and it only worked when I got rid of it. I don't know what to do now. I think I need that codec. Any suggestions?

To answer my own problem, what was wrong I found a post with an explanation. It's not that my bluray player out there and many like them can't play AVCHD, it's that they can't play them in a specific format. When I use Sony's gay PMB software to burn my videos from my camcorder onto a DVD in AVCHD format my bluray player doesn't recognize the disc. What I noticed was that it is missing some folder (blank folders) and all I had to do was add them and it worked just fine. This site gives a great explanation in case anyone is interested. The only pain is that if you're using Sony's gay PMB software then you first have to burn it to a disc and then copy all the files on the disc to the hard drive add the blank folders that are missing and then reburn it using imgburn. Check this website out and it explains why few players actually play AVCHD even though they support it. All that has to be done is a few changes on the folders of the disc itself. So simple...http://www.elurauser.com/articles/avchd_to_bluray.jsp

Hi guys, I am new to this forum and need some help with the Sony Picture Motion Browser Program.
At the start, I could not play the the AVCD files within the browser, after removing Haali Media Splitter that problem has gone away now - thanks for the advice above.
However, I still get "some of the selected media files will not be written to the disc because they are in file formats that are not supported", after clicking the AVCHD Creation (Create Disc) button.
The files are definitely in AVCHD format.
Is it a problem because I am trying to burn AVCHD files (via Sony Program) onto a normal 4.7 GB DVD?
I want to play this DVD creation on the PS3 player.
Regards

I am having the same problem being able to burn AVCHD or DVD files for that matter. I've uninstalled all the known video codecs that are not standard with windows and updated my video drivers...still get the same stupid error. Still says they are in file formats not supported and the thumbnails have that broken video icon on them.
I don't have FFDShow, Haali Media Splitter or AVISynth installed.
It works fine on my wifes Vaio laptop (of course).
Any other suggestions? -
Try tsMuxerGUI or multiAVCHD to author your avchd files and burn with imgburn,i play these avchd-dvd's on my sony 350 blu-ray,should work on a ps3.
I think,therefore i am a hamster.
