    Occasionally I get some video noise from dark shadows and black images. It only occurs from HD channels from DirecTV but not on Blu-ray discs. Any specific settings need to be set?

    You may need to adjust your black level. Samsung HDTVs have different proc amp settings for each input so you have to adjust all the inputs you use.

    But satellite broadcasts are way over compressed resulting in macroblock and posterization artifacts. Especially in dark areas.
