I hate to bother you but you seem to be the most knowledgeable site I can find on the web regarding my troubles. If you could help me I will try and make sure there is a special place for you in heaven.I will try and give you as much info as possible.
I have a project that I have completed in Vegas 8 Pro that I need to export into something that I can play on my MacBook Pro through a projector. I have FCP on my Mac and have used it a few times but I've been using Vegas for years and the FCP learning curve is just too steep to make the deadline and retain my sanity with all of the motion and key framing that needed to be done.
It's an 8 minute documentary for my son’s high school basketball team banquet (made with 275 still pictures rendered into an Apple ProRes QT movie from a program called “Photo to Movie” done on my Mac and video captured into Vegas from my HD Canon camcorder.)
The Vegas project was done in 1920x1080. It imported the ProRes QT file and the captured video just fine. All seemed to be fine but I can’t get it to render to QT and play smoothly. It renders a huge 125gig QT movie. Neither the PC nor my Mac will play the file smoothly. I even tried putting the file on a FCP timeline but it’s still jerky. What is the best way to export/render it out of Vegas so that I can play it on my Mac?
I want to retain as much quality as possible. Should I render it to something other than a QT.mov file? I hear rumors that the QT movie from Vegas when imported into FCP will render and be just fine but that doesn’t seem to work as it is still jerky. FCP says it doesn’t need to be rendered. I’m trying to avoid a DVD so I don’t lose resolution but I even tried to drop that file into iDVD and it’s still jerky.
In short, how can I get this out of Vegas and into something that I can play on my Mac, or any way at all? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Andy
