So have you been to a concert (of any type) in the last year?

My last concert was at the Detroit Symphony last April (2008). The John Williams was there performing his own music. It was fantastic. I think the only piece of his movie soundtracks he didn't play was the Jurrasic Park music. He of course did Star Wars, Jaws, Harry Potter, and even played Schindlers List (never saw it but know its a big one). The performance was great.

In fact it was just before Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull came out. He was saying he was finishing the soundtrack that weekend. Unfortunately he didn't play any music from the new movie. BUT he did give a run down from the Last Crusade. He played a clip with the opening train sequence with River Phoenix playing young Indiana Jones. He played without the music and talked through the music cues that should be there. Then the played the same clip and did the music live to the video. That was something special. It was like watching all those documentaries on the dvds only it was happening right in front of me.

The only other concert I've been to was the other year for the Genesis tour. That was a riot too. Great fun seeing Phil Collins do Genesis - I had seen him a few years earlier doing his solo farewell tour.

    So how about you?

    Define concert.
I recently went to my son's CD release party and his band performed the entire album, followed by another band (that I did not stay for). It was held at a brewery and the house was packed, standing room only. By strict definition of the word "concert", it qualifies, but were you looking for performances only held in concert halls or arenas? If that's the case, I don't go to concerts.

I'd consider live perfomances of any musical type to qualify.

  5. "Symphony in the Park", then "Classical Mystery Tour" and "Bugs Bunny on Broadway" at the Orpheum. Vancouver has good music. I didn't catch any rock concerts last year.

Sadly, I haven't been to a concert since shortly before Sir Georg Solti retired as the music dirctor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

I've seen a lot of concerts, but none during the last 12 months or so. U2 is rumored to have a tour this year, and Diana Krall will soon start her tour.

I haven't been in the last year, the last concert I saw in '07 was the G3 concert at the Palace Theater in Greensburg PA.
Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert (Racer X), and John Petrucci (Dream Theater)

It was a great show, especially since Gilbert hails from Greensburg.

That was my last (and my son's first) concert.

  12. Id' like to go to a lot of concerts but I don't have any train to go back home after 10.30 pm and most concerts ends between 10.30 pm and 11 pm

I don't want to book an hotel for each time I want to go ato a concert, too expensive on a long time especially when the concert halls are only between 30 and 60 km from my home.

But this year, I go to Paris to see the musical "Mozart l'Opera Rock"

  13. Last year was the first time in 20 years for a real concert, not counting bar bands. I saw the Aussie Pink Floyd perform The Wall. They're the only tribute band that can boast any sort of endorsment from the original Floyd. The Wall was great, but I wish I'd seen them do Dark Side. Check out the trailer:

Most recently I go to local punk and ska shows with my daughter. We will see the Adicts for the third time in two years soon. We watch our favorite bar band Andy Walo every couple of weeks. I saw Genesis, Pink Floyd, ELP, Who, Styx, and Yes several times back in the days...
