I've had Sony Vagas Movie Studio 8 for around a year now and I absolutley love it, so much so that I don't really want to move away from Sony Vagas Movie Studio now, however.

I always seem to have a problem when it comes to masking of any sort, it doesn't seem to do it, does anyone know a solution for this?

What sort of masking are you attempting to do ?

Even Vegas Pro is relatively limited in this respect. You have the cookie cutter for basic simple shape masks, or you can add graphics with transparent areas (png is a simple format for this), or you can use the chroma keyer filter.

Anything more complicated than what these can do needs to be done elsewhere.

The CineGobs Keyer is a surprisingly powerful freeware keying tool that supports rotomasks, keyframes and many other tricks. It may fill the gap between what Movie Studio can do, and what you need.
