  1. Is there some limit to the length of a file that TMPG can generate?

Here's what I am doing. I've Ripped "A Knight's Tale" using Smart Ripper, Run the VOB's through DVD2AVI, and now I am unsing TMPG to render them them to MPG's using the [NTSC MPEG-2 720X480 29.97 CBR 8000 Layer-2 48000Hz 384kbs] template.

I've tried both version 2.02 and 2.53 but get the same result. It chokes half way through and I am forced to finish off the movie where the first file left off.

[Here's why I posted in this forum] I then try to join the two MPG files together but it chokes up again at the exact same point and will not connect the two together. Any way to get the the whole movie on one file?

  2. This sounds like a similar problem I experienced. My movie stopped when the .mpg file size reached 4.1 GB.

Try dropping the bit rate from 8000 to 4000 or use VBR. Also at the high CBR you probably won't get it on one DVD-R.

  3. What file system are you using? Fat32 has a file size limit of 2 GB (maybe 4, I'm having a brain freeze), If you want to make files bigger than this you need to run Windows 2000 or XP and convert your hard drive to NTFS. This could very well be your problem.
