I have an Xacti HD1000 camcorder/camera which records videos very well. I can access the files easily once the memory stick is inserted, or if I insert the camera into the dock, and then connect a USB cable to my computer which is connected to the dock. Once I try to play the video, the video plays horribly. The file opens and the sound plays fine but the image does not move, and if it does it is completely out of sync with the audio. The file format is MP4. Please can you tell me what to do?

    thank you in advance

Sounds like a bad codec for your media player. Try another player such as MPC or VLC. You could also check the file using gspot or mediainfo and see if the proper codecs are installed on your system.

If you open the file using one of those apps, they will tell you which codec was used for encoding. You can then download and install that codec.

  5. You can use kmplayer ,smplayer or vlc to play, they include all the decoders, splitters for many formats. For certain kmplayer can play footage from that camera (h.264/aac). If you use a directshow player (e.g. mpc, wmp11), you need to install separately a splitter (e.g. haali splitter), and a h.264 decoder (e.g. ffdshow)

  8. it would help if you filled out the details of your computer in your profile. it's quite possible your computer is too slow/old to decode the mpeg-4 HD video from that camera.
