For some background on what I'm doing, I'm in the process of converting my entire DVD collection into MPEG2 files that I can stream or copy to my PS3 and Xbox360. My collection consosts almost entirely of TV show boxsets with 5 - 8 episodes on each disc, so I have to repeat this up to 8 times per disc. Right now, the process I go through is this:

I have AnyDVD installed and I open up Smartripper. I choose one of the episodes, check off the video stream and audio stream that I want to use and set the program to demux them into seperate files. Then when compelete, I open up Imago MPEG muxer and multiplex the audio and video streams into an MPEG2.

The resulting file plays awesomely on PS3. It upscales the vid as if it were a regular DVD and looks great. The 360 has some issues with this, but that's out of scope for this discussion.

My question is, is there a more efficient way to do this? I'm about halfway through Everybody Loves Raymond and the monotony is starting to grate on me. I'm basically looking for a way to do this in fewer steps, maybe with fewer programs while leaving both the video and selected audio stream completely unmolested.

  2. VOB2MPG. Each episode will come out as one MPG file.

How does that handle audio streams? Does it let you pick which one you want or does it just grab the first one?
