Sorry to kick the proverbial dead horse... I know requests for help with audio sync issues abound on this board, but I've been searching and can't seem to find the solution for my specific issue... there seem to be plenty of tools for fixing issues with avi files, but what if you have a converted mp4 file with out of sync audio and no longer have the original avi?

I'm sure this is probably a repeat issue, so if someone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it...

  2. If the error is a simple offset you can use YAMB to set an audio delay.

Is there a way to tell how far to offset or do I just have to estimate?

  4. I use Media Player Classic Home Cinema and the -/+ keys on the keyboard to generate an on-the-fly delay in milliseconds. Once I figure it out I use the same number in whatever program I use to make the delay permanent.

alright... so I used media player classic home cinema and roughly figured out that I needed to set a delay of 1280 ms... but when I open the video in YAMB, click on the properties of the audio stream and put in 1280 (or any number for that matter) and save out a new file... there's NO sound. what am I doing wrong?

  6. Was the sync off from the very beginning of the video? about 1sec off?

Is this a constant delay issue? i.e. is it 1280ms all the way through the video, or does it get progressively worse?

Did you set the sign correctly i.e. +/- ? Did you checkmark the audio stream?

Another option for the constant de-sync scenario is avidemux, where you can shift the audio and preview it by playing to "fix on the fly", then save the final video

Open the resulting file in YAMB. Is the audio track there?

well... getting closer... now when I bring it into avidemux and offset it by 1280-1300ms it plays perfectly... but when I save it it's still off... I picked the ipod settings under the 'auto' menu, which are: video = xvid4 and audio = copy.
