    I have some files that are in DivX :) 3.11 and I want to avoid installing the hacked codec is there an alternative way to decode these files? Also the codec needs to suppors VFW so I can open the files in virtualdub.

    As above.
    Go to ffdshow video encoder configuration > Decoder > Codecs > and set DivX 3 = libavcodec
