  1. Hi All.

I am running W98SE and use GOM Player. Most flv videos which I have downloaded from the Internet work fine in GOM. Sometimes, I get video in slow motion but the audio plays fine.

The problem I am having is with a particular file. It is an FLV and at first, the audio was very choppy and I could hardly hear a word. There also wasn't any video. I just got the black GOM screen with the musical note pictures in the centre. I have tried installing the latest version of GOM and now the audio plays perfectly, but even though I have tried changing a few things in 'Preferences' I am still getting the black GOM screen.

I have also tried VLC, but it's the same results as GOM (audio but no video). I tried to install an alternatived FLV player and just downloaded any old freebie that I came across, which in this case was Applian FLV Player 2.0. This DID show the video but it was too choppy to watch. Is anyone able to suggest why GOM wouldn't play the video at all?

I don't mind installing another simple program that would allow me to view the video, but so far none have worked.

Any help would really be appreciated.

    Thanks.

It seems you've gotten an improperly-muxed FLV
I mean, the audio stream was internally tagged as video, and vice-versa.
If it were an MPG file instead of an FLV one, I would know how to solve the problem.
    Good-luck!

  4. Thanks Baldrick. No I haven't tried FLV Player. The minimum requirements at the link you provided is W2000. There are two older version linked, however, I don't know whether any of them works with W98SE.

Thanks Midzuki. Yes it could be a corrupt file, but I have some hope because the video did come up, albeit unwatchable, in the other program mentioned.

I'll try to find another media player so that that can be totally ruled out.
