I just don't get how that can be done. It's not like your file disappears when someone downloads it.

unless it's for drm only files and they have some way of transferring the license. But then again, there's no way of knowing if the original (or a cd burn) has been removed.

I liked the concept, but see no possible way that it can be implemented.

I guess the only way you could get "around" selling mp3's is if you sell your old mp3 player and don't wipe it. Then it carries over to the new owner. But then again if there are drm'd files on it the new owner won't be able to play them unless they sign up for the same service and reinstate the licenses.

MP3s wouldn't be drm'ed. You must mean "if you sell your old iPod" (or other drm-supporting player). In either case, they could still listen to them from the player, just not on the PC.

@supreme2k - I think you missed a key part of my post:

And yes I am aware they could still play them on the player itself. However if they are subscription files they will have a definite time limit and cease to play until relicensed. Purchased files would continue to play until removed. However I don't know if purchased files on one portable player could be transfered and played on another computer with a different user id.

I guess that would depend on the company that the drm'd purchased file would have come from. Usually if its one you bought yourself you should be able to just redownload it again under your user profile.
