  1. I have the latest CyberLink PowerDVD v8.0.2217.50 Ultra + HD DVD

    Playback Addon

( I have also tried the latest arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre and Nero

    showtime) .

The problem is there seems to be some new BR technology neither of

those supports ,because when ever I try to play a very recent BR disc ,

( not sure If I can say the name/title).

either from a folder , or emulated as an iso , I get the message that

my BR player needs an update to support this movie ,and to visit

the manufacturers site , and on those sites no help exists .

Is anyone here in the know on what I need here , where am I lacking

and where do I get what I need to play this ?

I have all the latest Win XP , Video card drivers etc and did a Bluray advisor check as well

    Cheers

  2. You might need AnyDVD running in the background.

  4. Blu-ray is designed to allow for periodic updates to the encryption. It has been updated several times already. It's simply a cat and mouse game between Sony and the hackers. Wait a few weeks/months and AnyDVD and/or PowerDVD will come out with an update.

  5. Thanks for another reply

So am I to understand that this error I get is across the

board for everyone , I seem to be the only one whining about it

Is this not odd that programs like PDVD etc...who charge good

dinero for their product , wouldnt be in the immediate loop for

this .Or is it that Sony doesnt give a toss for these software

    players . Thats my guess

    Cheers guys

I don't know if this is your exact problem. I'm just giving you the general state of affairs.

I think you are right that Sony isn't particularly interested in PowerDVD and other software players. That was the source of the original AACS crack (and probably continues to be the source of current BD+ cracks) and I'm sure they were very unhappy about it.
