I thought that OLED technology was the upcoming future for TVs, despite of the fact that we should wait some years for a reliable HD OLED TV
Meanwhile there is comming to market some TVs with Laser Technology, don't know much about it yet
Using Laser Technology the Mitsubishi LaserVue has the double of colors than a Plasma and it only needs less than 200W of energy consumption, half of an TV LCD or 1/3 of a Plasma

Thanks for the information on this new tech, but truth be told, if OLED, SED or FED are ever released to consumers, well... :P

OLEd already has been released, by Sony. The price was stupidly high for a very small screen (US$1200 for an 11" screen, I believe), but it's a start. It always costs to be at the bleeding edge. While OLED many advantages, there is still a big question mark over it's longevity, and how to get the aging to be evenly spread Read my blog here.
