I was going over some thoughts about this actor, [he passed away in April 2008] and was wondering..
Plauged by the idea of what seemed like Charton Heston's voice where he says, "damn them all ta hell" in the 2001 movie, "Planet of the Apes", a re-lived line from his 1968 movie, "Planet of the Apes". Anyway.
When I saw the 2001 movie, and Zaius say thouse exact words, (I think) I could't help but wonder if that was actually Heston in costume or just he loaning his voice for that scene/line. I never heard any gossip, rumar or otherwise regarding this aspect. And it never dawned on me to search the web or google for this info, till just now when it bothered me all the sudden.
Still, I'm curious if he did/did not play a part in the 2001 movie. I mean, did he actually play that part of Zaius ? That must have been tiresome/regorous for him at his age and in that sort of costome. And why was it uncredited, being that he did play some long moments: assuming that he did play in costume.
Any thoughts and other facts 'n figures on this ?

According to the http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133152/ - he did play that character, uncredited.

Oh yeah!!
He was in the remake of POTA with mark walberg.
You can tell even through the makeup it's him, not to mention there is NO way to mistake his voice.
And i don't know about it being hard to do at his "age" in 2001, he always seemed to be in pretty good shape around that time.
Been a fan pretty much my whole life, my dad was a fan also so i was always seeing him in something.
I thought it was pretty cool for him to be in the remake as an APE!!

Yeah, I thought there was some relation to Heston in that charactor. And you are correct, you can almost make out his face even under the makeup, now that you pointed it out, LOL.
The orchestra music throughout the whole movie is great, and especially the opening theme, just takes you away: its spooky, creapy, ape-y, and imho surpasess that of the 2001 remake's music, though it was quite good, too: and a bit ape-y, too. It was definately a cool effect, but it didn't last long in that remake. In the original version, they kept the score always on-tune to the scene and events throughout the movie.
But I think the opening orchestrated music definately does it for me.
I tell ya, the guy(s) were geniouses: the director and the orchestra, and the casts, etc., etc.
