    Basic question for you guys. I am trying to link together three video files. One is 720p (30 secs long), the other two are 1080i (30 then 10 mins long on either side). To do this, I need to convert the 720p one to 1080i first. However I haven't been able to find a program to do this. (Tried TMPEGenc etc). Could you recommend one?

    Thanks

  2. What kind of video files are they? If you don't know, post a GSpot pic.

    We need to know the source to optimize.

    - film or video?
    - source resolutions
    - clip frame rates

    Then we need to know the target destination

    - DVD?
    - Blu-Ray?
    - Network streaming?
    - other?

    Thanks, here it goes:

    1080i60 (29.97) file -- captured by TiVo from NBC-HD then transferred to computer
    Video: MPEG2 Video 1920x1080 29.97fps 65000Kbps
    Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 384Kbps

    720p24 (23.98) file -- converted to MPEG-2 from MP4
    Video: MPEG2 Video 1280x720 23.98fps 14900Kbps
    Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 384Kbps

    would like to convert the 720p24 file to 1080i60, then combine them in VideoReDoPlus into a 1080i60 MPEG-2 file for storage on external hard drive and playback on PS3 or western digital HD TV box.

  5. I don't know the PS3 requirements, but if 1080p is OK and the 1080i ones are film based, then resize the 720p one to 1920x1080 and IVTC the 1080i ones. That way they'll all become 1920x1080p and 23.976fps.

    If you insist on the 720p one becoming 1080i then:

    Lanczos4Resize(1920,1080)
    AssumeFrameBased()
    SeparateFields()
    SelectEvery(8,0,1,2,3,2,5,4,7,6,7)
    Weave()

    If you don't know any AviSynth, I'd say it's time to learn. Maybe XviD4PSP or some other all-in-one program can do it for you. I don't know.
