I'm having trouble connecting my computer to my TV. I've done it before with a different TV but my current TV does not work with my computer. The audio works fine but the video is just in black and white and not stable. It has a bar the runs from top to bottom every second or so and makes watching the TV really bad.

I have done it on other TVs in the past so I'm wondering why it wont work on this TV. Any help would be great. Thank you.

  2. Have you checked your cables?
2 DVD, or not 2 DVD, that is the question.

A couple of things come to mind, but it depends how you are connecting the computer to the TV.

Older gfx cards used an s-video out on the graphic card, and often provided a short adapter lead. If you use s-video then you should reduce the resolution to 800 x 600 (although a really good TV might handle up to 1024 x 768 - I know my Loewe CRT does). If the resolution is too high, you will get disrotions, rolls etc.

The odd thing about the adapter lead was that it had s-video at one end, but terminated in a standard RCA plug. If you connect a normal RCA video lead to this you will get a black and white image.

The TVs I've gotten it to work on were older TVs in general at least 3+ years old.

The computer is from Thailand and I could connect it fine to TVs in Thailand as well as in England, but I'm currently living in Korea and trying to hook it up to a Xcanvas TV (from LG). The connecting cord ends ion the standard red white and yellow pins.
