I know that blu-ray players have slow load times for blu-ray discs, but how are the load times for regular dvds?

I only have a computer BD DVD-ROM drive at present, but it loads and plays regular DVDs the same speed as any other DVD drive. The difference with Blu-ray is the DRM that is part of the disc. Slow loading is normal as the DRM is set up.

Blu-ray players have to boot up to an operating system when they are turned on, and that can take 30-60 seconds, which seems much longer when you are staring at the machine. Once the tray finally ejects, there is no delay for standard DVD's, though.
