Just when I sort of got the DVD thing down I find a blu-ray disk in my piles of DVD I am trying to back up. I have DVDFab Platinum but after trying and reading I find that it does not work. So how can I rip the blu-ray into something I can use like .vob so I can convert it in XviD4PSP?

  2. 1.Get a BD-ROM drive.
    2.Use AnyDVD to rip.
    3a.Use a program to convert.
3b.Use ImgBurn in UDF 2.5 to make a backup.
4.Watching Blu Ray requires the latest PowerDVD or WinDVD.

If you just want the blu-ray on your hdd use anydvd.

If you want to convert to mp4 or mkv use Ripbot264 together with AnyDVD. Click on it for guides.

The current version(5.1.2.2) of DVD Fab Decrypter will finally rip HD-DVD. Not sure if it will rip Blue Ray,but it's free and worth a try.

As I said I don't want to back it up as an image onto a disk and AnyDVD is slow as hell, but if it works thats fine. Saying "3a.Use a program to convert." is not very helpful.

@ Baldrick: Ripbot264 did not work on my system the last time I tried it but I will give it another go, I found your post about how to use it.

And DVDFab Decrypter does not work.

Well you could always convert a DVD and save yourself and those trying to help you alot of trouble.
What's the point of going from 1920x1080 to 720x480?

What are you talking about? That is my point. I am sorry if what you had to say I did not find helpful. also who said I was going from one size to another? I am trying to back up this blu-ray like I am the DVD onto and HD so I can attach that to my xbox 360 and play the movies and not have 100+ disks laying around and individually playing them in a DVD player. and no I don't want to stream them, that is not what I am trying to do.

never mind, I think I am just going to skip it. seeing as how the tools to do this don't seems to be all that easy to use or available and kind of pointless to try it, at this time.
