Hello, all. Happy Holidays!
After resisting for 2 years, I finally got myself a new rig with Vista Ultimate 64 installed. Been playing with it for about a week now, and it really is a beautiful and elegant experience.
My question: last night I noticed that I have lost the ability to see my photographs without opening them up. When I go to the Pictures folder, instead of seeing the small snapshots what I get is some default placeholder rather than the individual images.
What did I do and how can I reverse it?
Thanks in advcance!

Sort of basic, but did you cycle through the 'Views' icon? Or R click on the place holder and select 'Open with.. Windows Photo Gallery'?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did cycle through all the available views. And the photos themselves are fine. It's just annoying that the preview function is now off.
But I did come across this, which I will try when I get home:
1.go to folder options
2.then choose view tab at top of window
3.under files and folders make sure option 'always shows icons, never thumbnails' is not checked
