MKV to any Format with its sub

I tried to convert mkv file to any video format like for example .mpg with its sub title after I burned it to my dvd-r the subs didn't show and I re-checked the file on my pc there's no sub either, can anyone help me please this has been a long problem of mine

Extract the subtitles from the mkv using mkvextractgui. Add the mkv and the subtitle file in for example convertxtodvd or dvd flick or favc and convert to dvd.
