MPEG-1 & MPEG-2 Sound

hi yall

i have a little question
In the TMPEG options Audio you can choose Stream type:
MPEG- Audio Layer I
MPEG- Audio Layer II
MPEG- Audio Layer III
well if i encode a movie 2 vcd with MPEG- Audio Layer III as sound stream can i play it on my dvd player??
my dvd player can play mp3 files also so is it possible that it use the mp3 decoder in the player to play the sound stream of the mpeg
or is that just not possible??

VCD and SVCD do not support MPEG-1 Layer-3.
