    Hi Guyes,
I've downloaded some .srt files of a spacific dvd movie from subscene.com as always I do.

    1) Now, at 1st I've converted the total movie to 1 mpeg2 file using vob2mpeg soft. Then, create dvd movie using GFD, attaching the .srt file & some chapters.
But, surprisingly the subtitles are displaying at the centre of the screen. I've tried 2 more .srt file, but same result!!!

I've done this tasks before, but not faced this problem. How can I fix the subtitle at the bottom of the screen?

    2) In GFD, It needed to convert dvd movie (.VOB) to .mpeg2. I m using vob2mpeg soft to do that. But, when I try to create Visual chapters in GFD with 3 of dvd movies, then an error is displaying that, Its not in mpeg2 format. But, no problem to create Text chapter. So where is the prob?

    1. Have you configured the position correct in gfd, see http://download.videohelp.com/gfd/Help/VideoFileDialog.html#Subtitles . If that don't wont help then what is the resolution of your mpeg2 files? Identify using mediainfo.

    2. You can try demux the dvd(vob/ifo) to video and audio streams with pgcdemux and then import the video and audio in gfd.

I suspect that the MPEG is MPEG1, probably originally sourced from a VCD.
Use GSPot or some other utility to tell you the specs of the MPEG.

This is valid in a DVD, but most authoring software only works properly with MPEG2.

Since I've used GfD to make DVDs from MPEG1 video (extracted from VCDs), I had exactly this problem.

GfD's visual chapter editor as you said cannot show MPEG1.

Also the positioning of the subtitles: I think that GfD was reading the frame size of the video, which is probably VCD resolution, 352x288 (for PAL). But though it positions the subtitle correctly in relation to this, actually the subtitle will be displayed as an overlay at normal 720x560 resolution. So it is positioned halfway up the screen.

You can override the default position of subtitles in the formatting dialogs in GfD. Put it in the normal position for a full-size MPEG2 DVD.

See the screenshot for how I did it.

You can also try to reposition the sub in DVDSubedit, but I found it also had problems with MPEG1, It has been updated since the last time I tried it, but I doubt it this feature has been fixed.

    Hi Baldick/AlanHk,
Many thanks for describing me in details. Coz I also thought it's may be subtitle position settings problems in gfd . but settings was ok.

I'll try tonight according to your new settings at video+audio files tab settings in gfd.

    Hi AlanHk,
Yes, It worked...just change the height to 480 (NTSC), coz previous height was 288 & also format is mpeg1.

But, is there any soft, which will convert it to mpeg2 quickly? I've converter, but it will take more then 3 hrs!!!

And plz give me another solution if possible:

I m trying to create 4 small mpeg files seperately to 1 dvd disk. but, after importing 4th file, there is no 'title4' to fix the action select box for that imported file!!

So, is not possiblr to add more then 3 mpeg files in gfd seperately?
If possible, then what I m missing?

Why? MPEG1 works perfectly well in DVD players once authored. It's only some software that doesn't like them.
But to transcode to MPEG2 will take some hours, whatever method you use. And the result will be a larger file of lower quality.

I don't know. I've put 20 videos into a GfD project without any problem.

Why do you want to "fix the action select box"? Mostly the default action is correct; I hardly ever edit that.

    Hi AlanHk,
Yes, MPEG1 works fine, I've checked & I did not change in file format,
only changed the height to 480 (u cant increase in NTSC more then 480-right?), then subtitlees appears in the bottom.

But, I need to edit the action, because always the default action set to title1, if I import file in main menu page or submenu page.

When u put 20 files in project, then for 20th file, action was title 20?
    >>>I hardly ever edit that - may I know when?

    I can't help much.
For example, these are what I have in a current project, all generated automatically.

    1st file has action:
    jump titleset 1 menu;

    ....

    6th title has action:
    jump titleset 6 menu;

I suggest you start a new topic with a subject like "How to edit GfD action", you may get some people who know more about this aspect. Borax, the creator of GfD, will often post here.

    Ok, Many thanks for helping...

I'll try again today with the 4th file & will create a new topic if failed. I m sure I m missing something.

And in previous projects, I worked with 3 files only with gfd.
