  1. I have a number of external harddrives. Four 500GB seagates and one 750 Maxtor. All of these work great to edit my video in Sony Vegas 8.0 with no slow downs to load video, render or save back.

My question is if anyone has had the same luck with 1TB or over external hard drives. I know I need to find the ones with 7200 RPM speed.

I'm just worried about the larger externals causing trouble with transferring through a USB port (not firewire)

I have a 1TB Verbatim drive (uses a WD HDD) and have no problems.

Just to add when purchasing: manufacturer warranties range widely; you'd want the free 5 years rather than the store-bought addon insurance, I'd guess.
Also, I've noticed that some USB drives are 'always on', always actually spinning, drawing power and wearing bearings out.
