Hi guys, hoping you can help us here.

I've got 5 40min Avi files that i want to put onto 1 Dvd to play on my brothers Dvd player which does not support Divx/Xvid. It is just a bog standard Dvd player

What is the easiest way to do this?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks MJA for the reply. Sounds very easy that, do you not have to convert the Avi's beforehand?

Apoligies if it's a daft question as i'm not used to converting files, i normally just burn as a data disc as my Dvd player reads Divx/Xvid.

    Greets,

You can give FAVC a try. Nice little program to covert vid files to DVD. Even offers simple menu authoring. I just burned some DivX avi's for a friend to DVD using it the other day. Audio went out of sync if I used the Normalize option. Was fine without it.

    Cheers,
    Rick
Rene: Could you not just wound him a little bit?
Hans: Well now, with a 25 pound shell that is not easy.

There is a program called DivxToDVD. You just pick the file you want converted and it creates a video_ts folder with the converted files in it. If you hold down "Ctrl" when selecting file you can select multiple AVI files and it would convert them to same DVD (all on one). Positives: its completely automated, you pick what to convert and where to save and click convert and it does it. Cons: It is completely automated....you can set aspect ratio and pal or ntsc(or leave on auto), but thats it ... but nothing to change size of output or even estimate size of final folder.

I use it and if it's bigger than 4.35 gb (for single DVD) I run it through DVDshrink.

The easiest option is to go buy a $50 Divx player and burn a data DVD or use MaDmiZe's option.

If your player accepts divx/xvid then just burn, no need to convert first, and you do NOT have to make an ISO first

I don't know why i keep seeing people say this, it's just an extra step that is NOT required, just drag and drop the files and burn to disc.

I very strongly agree with DarrellS. Unless Ruudboy is one of those people who places no value at all on his spare time, and we do have a lot of them, it's not really worth having to do this kind of thing. You'll spend hours converting and then authoring a DVD when you could just buy a cheap player that plays Diivx and get on with your life, but it's your decision. If you are going to do this a lot, it's not worth the hassle, but I guess for a one time thing that you won't do again, you could just do the conversions even though it will take hours.

The suggestion for buying a divx player was for your friend and it wasn't your first post but actually your second post that you mentioned that your player played divx files.

which was in your actual first post.

Even in your "pointing it out" post, it still shows you mention having no experience converting (in reference to your first post).

No need to get snarky with the people actually trying to help you.

I see now... yeah, kind of common sense, you (brother) can't play files on a dvd player that does not support them so a convertin' we will go
Or what others already told you, send him after a new $40.00 player that supports divx.
