    Hey all,

Just bought a bluray player for my pc. What program or combination of programs do I need to rip/backup my bluray disks?

AnyDVD works with most blu-ray discs.

DumpHD and DVDFab Decrypter works with some.

If you want to convert to mp4/mkv/avchd use ripbot264, click on it for guides.

Whoa! Baldrick. As prompt as ever.

    Thanks for the info.

Just pretend for a moment that I'm a complete newb.. If I wanted to rip my bluray titles to my hard drive and watch them through my computer onto my TV what format should I back up as? and what program is best for playing such files?

Well you can just rip them to iso files(HUGE, ~20-50GB) using anydvd, then mount it as a virtual blu-ray drive using Virtual CloneDrive and play with powerdvd, windvd, TotalMedia Extreme.

Or rip out the main movie mt2s file from the Blu-ray(~15-30GB) but I don't how well it works with several audio tracks and subtitles.

If you want to shrink them use AnyDVD together with Ripbot264. See https://forum.videohelp.com/topic358185.html

Anydvd says the disk is ready for use, seems to have done its thing but powerdvd doesnt see a disk to play..

How exactly do I rip a bluray title to ISO using just anydvd? I'd need to use another program as well wouldnt I?

Right click on the anydvd fox icon and choose Rip to Image.

Cant seem to get any player to play BD or the ISO from it. Powerdvd says unsupported disk.. total media extreme site is not uploading..

Is playing Blu Ray disks/ISOs on PC something that people do? what do you all use? What am I doing wrong?

I copy the 3 folders of the Blu-ray disc to a folder on the HD using AnyDVD. Point PowerDVD (v7.3) to the folder and play as a Blu-ray disc.

To convert the movie to an AVI file, open the movie m2ts file with TsRemux. Save the video stream as a m2ts file. Then right click on the audio stream and demux to elementary stream as an ac3 file. Repeat for more audio streams. If the saved streams are not ac3 then convert them with EAC3to.

Using Avisynth and VirtualDubMod I choose Divx (1080HD profile, 4000 kbs) and fast recompress. Select the ac3 audio streams and encode.

The result file for a 2 hour movie is about 4-5 Gigs. Looks good on the computer and can't tell the difference on a PS3 from the orignal.

Thanks Megahurts i'll look into that method.

Right now though i'm at the stage where I have ripped a bluray title to my hard drive and am trying to get ripbot to demux... ripbot just hangs at 1% demuxing (0% cpu usage).. any suggestions?

    Success! of a sort.

I rip the blu-ray to hdd, then use TSMuxer and ripbot264 to make either mp4 or mkv file to watch. Takes a very long time though.. any way of not encoding the main movie file? just extracting it and the main audio into a file that can be played on VLC or MPC?
