What I have is a couple of self-created dvdr's (three videos that I made with PhotoStory 3 and converted to DVD, and a video taping which I also had converted to DVD) that I wanted to put all on one DVDR.

I used TMPGenc DVD Author 2 when the dvd's were created originally, am now using TMPGenc DVD Author 3. But I just found out from them that pretty much I cannot change the primary highlighted icon status in any menu (For example, PLAY ALL comes up as being default highlighted when the DVD is first put in... when I might prefer one of the links leading to a sub-menu. When the viewer selects a sub-menu, and it comes up, the MAIN MENU link is highlighted, when I would prefer the VIDEO thumbnail to be highlighted when the menu comes up).

I used DVD Architect to do this revision in exactly the way I wanted which worked well but the burned DVDR's did not work on 2 of the 4 DVD players they were tested on.

    My questions :

What program would be recommended to go in and edit the feature I describe?

Do I have to get another program and completely re-create the menu just to change the icon highlight status's?

Is there some way to edit the menu code somewhere that I could just go in, change some sub-routine and add it to another icon to change the highlight status? If so, what program does this?

Also, is there a setting that would make/cause the DVDR's to be incompatible to only some DVD players? I'm just curious why half the players I tried it in played it, and half wouldn't. One player even said it was playing it, but nothing was showing on the screen.

Thanks for any help or advice anyone can give me.

If you have complete DVD, than it is just matter of commands to change navigation the way you want. It can be easily done using PgcEdit (free tool).
As for compatibility, that is not that simple.
First use good DVD brand Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and good burning software, like ImgBurn, but even than it is not guaranteed.
If you use DVD+R, book type it to DVD-ROM, that helps with older players.

    I'll check out PgcEdit. Thanks!

You're right, I forgot to post what kind of media I use. As a standard I typically use TDK DVD-R's, I usually get the best results and highest compatibility with most DVD players using them. In all honesty, I've never even heard of Taiyo Yuden. I'll look into them online though.

Sounds like a worthwhile media to check into. Looks about the same price as what I pay for TDK's too. I couldn't find where RIMA indicates what their shipping charge is though... I'll look again later.

Looks like PgcEdit is EXACTLY what I'm looking for, now all I have to do is figure out what to mess with and what not to, and I'll be set! I better go back to the PgcEdit page and check out their guides.

Thanks again to both of you!!!
