I have 100+ VHS tapes, average 1.5 hr playing time each, that I would like to be able to archive and play on my computer. How do I do that?
Thanks for any help.

If you have a DV camera with analogue inputs then you could use that to connect to the firewire input of the MacBook and capture that way. Once you have the DV files you can convert to something smaller. if you don't have a camera then you could look at one of the advc range of capture units.
Of course it also depends on what your end use will be.
How much do you want to squeeze them ?
Do you want to create DVDs from them ?
Do you intend to try to clean them up at all ?Read my blog here.

Thanks for your help. I do not have a digital camera. I don't want to process the tapes in any way, just watch them.
What are the advc units you referred to?

If you just want to encode them for watching then this might be a better optionRead my blog here.
