  1. I'm using DVDlabPRO

I'm trying to author 2 sets of videos, one 16:9 and one 4:3 so that the 4:3 videos do not play as the 16:9 videos [stretched]

I have my title VMG menu linking to the 2 VTS menus

I have my 16:9 videos in the 1st VTS [ROOT menu [menu 1]

I have my 4:3 videos in the next VTS menu [menu 2]

The Mediachance site says you can do this but the videos of a different size has to have its own VTS menu, which is what I have. I'm obviously missing something.

I've tried various combination's of menus even using 3 VMG menus with no success.

I'd prefer no to re-encode the 4:3 videos to 16"9 format with padded black bars.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you

They need to be in their own VTS.
I bet you it's lumping them in the same Title Set.

Set it up such that the menu / video pairs are each in their own VTS
and the menu which directs the player to one or the other is in the root.

I thought I was clear. The 2nd set of 4:3 videos get stretched to 16:9 size when played.

    Lenosj:

Are you saying I need this? [which I though I tried]

    No VMG menu

ROOT Menu linking to 2 VTS menus, one with 16:9 - one with 4:3 videos

Can I have a PLAY ALL button in the ROOT menu and have the 2nd set of videos not get distorted?

Thanks to both of you for such fast responses.

Make sure the VTS properties reflect the content of the titleset.

You can have a play all button, but it does not guarantee that the display will look right - too many variables outside your control. However if your assets are flagged correctly, and your titlesets configured correctly, the disc should behave as you want it to. That is all you can ask.

  6. Well, I hate to admit this [with the amount of DVDs I've authored], but........

    I was thinking that my menus 1 - 2 - & 3 were automatically different VTS menus. I didn't think that I had to actually create a VTS2 MENU.

No wonder I kept getting the error message that I had 16:9 and 4:3 in the same VTS. They were in different menus, but the same VTS

Worst embarrassment of my life [not really]

    Thank you

In some template driven tools, just adding a new video asset creates a new VTS. In others, all assets go into a single VTS, regardless. DLP basically doesn't hand hold at all, and assumes you have planned it out and created all the appropriate bits. It will tell you if you haven't, but as you have found, it won't do it for you.

The rule is that 4:3 and 16:9 Title (Movie in DVD Lab) has to be in its own VTS.
In situation like this, you can create a menu in VMG domain where the buttons will link directly to both VTS Titles. Than you can use "Play ALL" Icon and make button (PLAY ALL, or what ever you want to call it) in VMG menu connected to play all.
