I want to covert all my videos (about 48 videos) into .avi or something standard. How can I do this?

2nd question, I want to have the highest quality possible and edit the file in Vegas. How can I do this?

Keep in mind, I have already tried the method in this thread "Mini Guide - AVCHD to Anything Using DGAVCdec
" (https://forum.videohelp.com/topic346331.html) and the video didn't play back properly.

Can't you edit avchd in latest vegas directly?

Didn't dgavcdec work? Then give us more details why it didn't work.

Record 5-10 seconds of video and post the .MTS file somewhere. Http://www.mediafire.com will host it for free.

    Here is the file: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=bda9a833f6827997d2db6fb9a8902bda

After converting, please check if the sound is in sync/distorted, because this is the problem I had.

The video seems okay to me. I used the Vimeo batch process, found towards the bottom of the first post here:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic346331.html

Here's your file converted to h264 with AAC audio:

    sony_hdr-cxy_video.mp4

There is a bit of distortion on the audio. I'll demux the ac3 and look at the individual tracks.

What audio and video formats are you converting to? Are you using VirtualDub ?

Is there a level or sensitivity switch for the audio on that camera?

I am using virtual dub, and I am using __848x480_Deinterlaced_HQ_NTSC.bat

    Did i do something wrong?

Maybe I was doing something wrong. This is my procedure...

I dragged the file into the unzipped folder
    I double clicked __848x480_Deinterlaced_HQ_NTSC.bat
I open .avs file in virtual dub

edit: I didn't know I was suppose to use virtual dub to save as a format. I thought virtual dub was a media player like VLC.

edit: I don't see an option for saving as Mp4. I saved it as avi and it didn't play back properly. However, the video plays flawlessly on my camcorder.

No, you did everything right. I see the error. For some reason, the AC3-WAV decoder is messing up the channels, making one side much louder and distorting. Here is your audio:

I'll see if I can tweak the settings to stop this from happening. Different cameras, different issues

Give me a few hours and I'll see what I can do.

Try this version. I had to tweak the volume levels so it wouldn't distort and now there's balance between the audio channels. Give it a shot.

    avchd_convert_dmak02.zip

    Example output:

I just tested it with one of my videos, I hear a lot of static in the background. Is there a way to mass convert from this format to avi? It seems I have to open one by one in virtual dub after using the .bat to save as avi.. I have like 50 .mts videos.

I don't think there's anything else I can do to help you with your audio problem. You might want to try VoltaicHD instead.
