How to put music on an Ipod

I am new to MP3 players and I have just purchased a 4 GB Ipod Nano. Our old CD player quit working and I want to put selected songs from my CD collection onto my Ipod and then buy an Ipod player to use as our Audio player for our house. Can anyone please help as to the steps I will need to complete this task, eg what program needed to transfer songs from cd to the computer and then how to transfer these songs to my ipod. Thanks

You will need to download the iTunes software from Apple. Then you'll need to import your CD's into iTunes . You then transfer to the iPod. It's actually really easy - a bit time consuming to rip all those CD's - but easy.
