  1. I'm wanting to convert a home DVD into AVI or MPG on my hard-drive, so I can edit it in sony vegas.

    Saw a post on this forum that suggested VOB2MPG which seemed to be a simple program at first, but the resulting mpg that I ripped from the vobs didn't have any sound,

    Have I missed something here?

  2. maybe. try using the free program dvdshrink in re-author mode on the dvd first. extract the movie only with just one audio track and nothing else. then use vob2mpg on the extracted vobs.
