    Hi

I was doing this long back but now dont remember it. I used to merge subtitles (srt and maybe sub also) into the videos (basically xvid). By merging I mean I used some software which loaded both the subtitles and video and within
a minute merged it so that I had one final file to play. It used to play alright on MPC but not on dvd player.

That is fine since now I watch movies on my LCD monitor only. Can somebody name that software please.
I dont want to burn i.e. reencode the video as it is time consuming and deteriorates the quality of the video.

I tried aviaddsubs, avisub and avimux. All seem to merge srt with the avi file but none display subs while playing the video by VLC ? I wonder what I am doing wrong

Such subtitles will just work with the divx player from www.divx.com and standalone divx dvd players.

You could also mux subtitles to an avi using avimuxgui but it requires that you have vsfilter installed and I don't know if it will work vlc.

Wow. It does play in the divx player. I installed just the player minus its codecs and it read subs v well I can play subbed videos thru it while the regular ones by vlc.

    thanks and hug
