    I have a player for my tv that will accept videos in xvid format but will not recognize the mp3 on ac3. I was looking for a way to extract the audio convert to ac3 and the rejoin it with the video. Thanx all.

  2. Several ways to do this:

    An easy way is using vdub, you need ac3 acm codec installed

    1) Open up in vdub

    2) select video=>direct stream copy

    3) audio=>full processing mode

    4) audio=>compression , select ac-3 acm codec and configure settings (choose bitrate, but sampling rate has to match the input rate or you have to upsample or downsample)

    5) file=>save as avi

    cheers

    This script will do it for you. You need to install Avisynth for it to work. See instructions in the first post.

    This works well for single files, is there a way to do a batch encode. I have a show that is 10 seasons that could take a while one at a time. Thanx.
