Sorry if this has been answered but I couldn't find it. I have a sony DVD burner that I used to capture video off a sony hi8 recorder. I am trying to take the information I have from the dvd and post it on youtube or email it. The disc has IFO and VOB files on it how do I put them together to save as a avi or something I recognize. I have AVS converter but it does not recognize the vob or IFO as a video file. Thank you~Zane

    YOu have several options,
Use VOB2MPG and convert the DVD VOBS to one single mpg file that you can upload directly to youtube or edit using a mpeg2 editor like mpg2cut2.
Use Autogk or FairUse Wizard and choose the DVD/VIDEO_TS folder and convert to AVI Xvid with mp3 audio that you can upload directly to youtube or edit using Windows Movie Maker, Virtualdub.

Okay I am still having trouble I downloaded Autogk opened the tutorial and followed it. I was able to get an AVI. but it is just black or static noise over black. You said to choose the Dvd/video_ts folder. When I try and select this it pops oben a dialog box with the folder in it which I select. It opens and I have the option of choosing one of the files. I tryed the vob and IFO files. I either get something saying the IFO was not Parsed(??) or it does the conversion but spits out a black AVI. Help?

  5. Try the VOBs then. Open the first one in AutoGK and it'll automatically pick up the rest.

Or use VOB2MPG and them process the mpg file, which is what I do with my DVDR recordings.

AVI DeMux will also load VOBs and output FLV if you'd like. iirc YouTube likes FLV. You can use it to cut your clip out too.
