This is what happens: I turn on the video capture device (Canopus ADVC-50 firewire), then plug the firewire cable into my Dell laptop running Vista SP1. An auto-play pop-up asks what I want to do, then I press "Import Video", then another window comes up asking if I want to import the entire video or just parts, and I pick the latter (just parts). I press "Next", and then it hangs forever! (All of this is using Vista, not any third-party program).
It just sits there doing nothing after I've pressed "Next". When I try to click cancel or anything else, the window label is changed to "Import Video (program not responding)". I have to force a re-boot because there's no other way out.
The same thing now happens no matter how many times I shutdown and restart and try again.
This worked perfectly the day before, and I have not changed a thing! What can I do to solve or troubleshoot this problem?
