Most players will happily play MP3 files without conversion. All you have to do is burn them as data.

What don't you like about DVD audio creator ?

what i dont like about that program is the fact that it breaks down all the songs into "DVD Title"

ive got the rolling stones top 500 rock songs on my computer and i want them all in 1 folder regardless of the options i select it till breaks it into 12 folders.

If you want to turn it into a DVD that will play on any DVD player then it has to be made into a compliant DVD structure. That may preclude you from having everything the way you want it. The DVD spec has certain restrictions on the number of titles you can have in a titleset, and the number of chapters you can have in a title. For example, if you wanted to put all your track in a single title you could only have 99 chapter markers. So you would have to reduce the number of songs int he title so you get one chapter each song, or settle for having a chapter every 4 - 5 songs.

Not all DVD players will play mp3 files on a DVD. Easiest way to find out if your player supports this is to try it for yourself. Or, you could check your model at https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers. You can also search for models which support "DVD-MP3".

Do note that some DVD players have limits on MP3 files on data discs and they may not play something that 500 songs in one folder. I've heard of limits of about 100 songs per folder. I'd suggest burning to DVD+/-RW discs to test first.

ImgBurn is free, but you will probably need to look at some docs to understand how to use it to burn data discs. Burn as an ISO format disc for best compatibility with DVD players. If you have Nero it also does (in my opinion) an acceptable job of burning data discs.

I've also used Audio DVD creator, and don't like it either (although it's the best I could find).
Some DVD players, as you said, don't read mp3 files... or I found that many don't work (even if they normally read mp3) if you have many mp3 files in the DVD (~500 songs).
What I don't like about Audio DVD creator is that songs are listed in any order, and that you can't navigate your tracklist without interrupting the current song.
Is there a way to build a DVD-Compliant disc that holds many audio songs (in any format.. i don't care if I have to reencode) AND that allows you to search your songlist before changing the current song being played?

No. The DVD spec is a pretty simple beast. The closest you can come is to use menus as your song background, which would allow you to choose any other song on that menu without interrupting playback. However as soon as you select any item on that menu, the playback will cease and move on. The DVD Video spec was designed for movies, not music, and the DVD Audio spec was based on the music being encoded at very high bitrates and therefore having a limited running time. This reduced the need for more sophisticated navigation.
