Is there an equivalent type filter available for AviSynth that does a similar job to the Logoaway filter for VirtualDub?

Yeah, but they're a bit tricky to get set up. I prefer the RM_Logo, but which you choose may depend partly on the kind of logo you're trying to get rid of:

http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/InpaintFunc
They're both pretty similar, but the InPaintFunc has better documentation for the various settings.
By the way, in my opinion the Logoaway filter pretty much sucks as about all it can do is blur in various ways. The VDub DeLogo filter is VDub's best logo removal filter. These AviSynth logo removers do a better job, I think. Be warned, however, that it can take a long time just to load it as it has to scan the entire video first. If using the even slower InPaint Mode for opaque logos, I find it often takes longer than the video to even open, and then a real long time to run a pass. If all you want to do is blur the thing, you'd be better off sticking with LogoAway. If you want the better DeLogo filter, there's a pretty decent guide for its use here:

Thanks for that, some good information there, but yeah, you're right, I haven't got the time or patience to set these up properly. I have no doubt at all that they all do a remarkably better job than Logoaway and indeed I have seen some examples others have done to remove logos and the results are absolutely amazing to say the very least. My requirements are different though. I need something I can deploy easily and quickly for *every* single video I convert, not just the odd one here and there I want to keep for archival purposes.
In short, that means I need a GUI preview for setting it up visually and that pretty much leaves me with Logoaway as my only choice. That's fine. I'm happy with the results I get from Logoaway for my purposes. I was just wondering if there might be something that's equally easy to use in AviSynth. If not, that's okay, I can keep using VDub for when I need to remove a logo. No worries.
