  1. I know how to play the DiVX rip with subtitles using a subtitle viewer program. I know how to convert a DiVX .avi to .mpg for putting on VCD.

What I want to know is, is there a way to merge the subtitles onto the .avi file, and then convert that to an .mpg? I know the subtitles are just a text file, so I'm not sure if there's a way to do it without manually adding them through Premiere or something like that.

Does anyone know if this can be done?
    Thanks.

  2. First, you must have your subtitle in ssa format. Then, with Virtualdub and its filters (for sub, resize and so on, you specify the order) you can do it. Virtualdub put the subtitle in the avi and "serves" the movies (frame server) to TMPGenc. Tmpgenc finally gets you the mpg file for vcd. Details at this address http://www.vcdhelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm
