    Using Vegas 8 Platinum-

Basically I shot a live show with 2 cams, one on the band and one on the crowd. I have the 1st edited down and ready, now I'm putting the 2nd. I'm using the audio to sync (which being a DJ is easy), the splitting the overlay deleting the parts I don't want. Maybe someone can understand what I'm trying to say. I would like to know if there is a shortcut for cutting the clips? Like highlighting them and deleting them. But I cant do that because I cant just highlight the one video stream. Its time consuming to playback the stream, pause, split, play, then pause again, split , delete. Suggestions more than welcome.

Anyone have a recommended time setting for cross fading in music videos???

    Thanks to all

Apply a composite envelope to the top clip, then add points and move the opacity up and down. It takes 4 points per cut. The first holds the current level, the second changes the level, the third hold the new level, and the forth returns the level to where it was at the first point. Of course, you have to actually set these manually, but if you are effectively going from 100% (only top clip visible) to 0% only bottom clip visible) and back again, it isn't hard. The advantage - no cuts, and therefore no risk of sync issues. Also, the closer the points, the faster the edits. Put them next to each other, you get a hard edit. Put a bit of distance between them, and you get a X-fade.

Hopefully this makes sense. You may have to play a bit to get the hang of it, but I find it makes cutting between two or even three clips very simple and quick.

Didn't notice the platinum bit - I use Vegas Pro. Hopefully platinum has envelopes.
