  1. ive been encoding to divx for some time now and am now trying to capture from my vcr to my pc, so i can encode tv programs to divx.

i am getting video no problems but i am a little confused as to how i can get the audio at the same time. my sound card is sb live.

i have a geforce 256ddr, and have connected the vcr video out (yellow) into the s-video in port on my video card. so i get video on my pc no problems, but i am not getting audio.

my question is how do i get the audio? i can understand that there wont be any because i havent got any audio out connected to my pc, but how do i do this? im having brainfreeze!!

do i have to connect vcr audio out to my soundcard somehow?
there doesnt seem to be the right connections to do this???

my vcr doesnt have an s-video out, it just has the standard a/v connections.

please help a confused dude!

    thanks in advance

  2. Not sure about your card, but on the ATI type cards, ther is a small cable, audio out from the ATI Card to audio in on your sound card. I may be the same on all cards, again not sure, Try that.

  3. Not sure about your setup or your card, but you may need to get a Y-adapter: Stereo mini (3.5mm) plug to 2 RCA male cable and connect vcr audio out directly into the audio input of your audio card. Only a suggestion if your cap card doesn't have audio input.

  4. If you only connect s-vhs or composit plugged into youre tv/capturecard no there is no way you get audio by connecting that with youre soundcard. That only work with RF(Antenna)in.
Simply connect the vcr's audio to "line in" on soundcard. This way you also get stereo even if youre tv-card doesnt support that(mine doesn't)

2 way RCA from vcr to 3.5mm on the soundcard was the answer.
