  3. So when you burn it to a DVD-R, which unfortunately I've been unsuccessful in doing so far  , some of the quality is lost?

  4. no you will not lose quality, if you turn around and burn those vobs into the proper folders and in the proper UDF/ISSO9660 bridge mode,...just make sure that you vobs are under 4.3 GB, as that is all DVD-Rs can hold.

  5. UDF what? First I'm hearing of that. Where do I find out about this UDF-whatever? Please excuse me for my stupid questions but I'm very new to this DvD ripping so be patient with me please.

    EDITED:

Well, I found this quote at Pc-TechGuide.com.

DVD-Video discs use only UDF with all required data specified by UDF and ISO 13346 to allow playing in computer systems. They do not use ISO 9660 at all. The DVD-Video files must be no larger than 1 GB in size and be recorded as a single extent (i.e. in one continuous sequence). The first directory on the disc must be the VIDEO_TS directory containing all the files, and all filenames must be in the 8.3 (filename.ext) format.
    Can you explain this?

  6. All you need to know really is the UDF/ISO Bridge mode. Any good burning application will have this type of mode to burn in. I know for sure Nero does. www.ahead.de As long as you burn the backup files in this mode, you will be ok.
