  1. Hey all...

I have two DVD players that don't play DIVX and would like to know if there is a firmware I could do to update these players to be able to play DIVX.

    Pioneer DV-275
    Regent DVD-1000

I've done research but maybe I missed it.

Thank you in advance for any assistance with my question.

Neither one of those appear to be Divx players, so no, you can't do anything to make them play that format. But you can purchase a Divx player cheaply enough and most should play Divx and regular DVD formats.

Here's a list of Divx certified players: http://www.divx.com/products/products.php

  3. I do have other DVD players with DIVX already, but these were in the closest collecting dust so I thought I'd play.

Thanks for the fast response redwudz. As a mod, if you want to delete this thread to clear room, please feel free. Thanks again.

    Man!!!
How old is that list ??

I see a lot of APEX machines on it and if i'm not mistaken..... APEX has not been making dvd players for many moons.... do they even exist anymore ??

  5. The list is pretty up to date. Obviously, it includes old players too.

AFAIK, the APEX name is still around, though I don't know if that's the original company. That list was from Divx and the date on the bottom is 2008, so I assume it is fairly recent.

One detail you can gather from that list, there are a lot of Divx certified players available.

  7. I honestly feel that the DVD players with the USB ports are the best inventions ever made!! BUT, it would be nicer if they ever made a stand alone Divx player. Hook it up to your computer, load the DIVX files, then hook back up to your TV and enjoy. THAT my friends, would be the cats meow!

    Like these (Or similar)? http://www.mediagateusa.com/products.html

There are quite a few others that have S-video, component or composite or other output you can plug right into your TV.
