  1. Man, this seems so simple but I just can't get it!!! Here's the deal, I downloaded LOTR in a DivX format, and I want to convert it to SVCD's so that I can watch em on my TV. Simple so far...

I've split the audio and the video so far, and I can encode it in TMPGEnc without a problem but the aspect ratio is all messed up. I've also tried using filters in VirtualDub but that doesn't work cause in the end I get a 640x480 MPG2 file...what is wrong!!!

The DivX is 640x272, and from what I understand an NTSC SVCD needs to be 480x480 right? So I hate to be lame like this but just what do I need to do to make this work?!? I've searched the forum, and at some points I'm almost there! But in the end it just doesn't work...if anyone would be nice enough to baby-step me through it I would be forever in your debt...thanx in advance!!!

Load the sources. At next load the SVCD template, do not confuse this order.
At the advanced tab set source aspect ratio 1:1, full screen (keep aspect ratio).
Even better, select center (custom size) and type 448x254.

  4. And did you choose the SVCD template after you loaded the film?

Also, there is already a beautiful 4 disc SVCD rip out there. Its crystal clear. There is no way you can do as well converting from DivX, and the time it will take is likely close to that of downloading the SVCD version.

  5. Well, I finally played around with it enough to get it to work...had to select 16:9 525 NTSC as the source aspect ratio, and then use Center (Keep Aspect Ratio) and it looks just like it should...

I've heard about the SVCD, and even with my resources I have yet to find it...if you have any clues Email me! inthewayboy@yahoo.com

    Thanx again!
