  1. here's my problem ...
    2 Weeks ago, I bought a DVD Standalone player, to play (DaH) DVD's and more importantly, to play VCD's.
    I never made a VCD before, so that's when I went searching for How To's ... That's how I ended up here
    So, I started to encode my .avi files to mpeg1 using TMPGEnc ... all so far so good. Since I live in Europe, I had to make a VCD in PAL format, so I set the TMPGEnc configuration to;
    Video:
    1150 kbit/sec MPEG-1
    352 x 288 pixels
    25 frames/second
    Audio:
    224 kbit/sec MPEG-1 Layer2
    Next, I used VideoCD Easy to burn the VCD, but when I put it in my DVD Player, it keeps saying; "Invalid Entry" ... Maybe I did something wrong, so I encoded it again, and this time, burned it with Nero 5.5 ... But there was no change at all ...
    The specs of my DVD Player;
    - It can play both PAL and NTSC
    - Compatible disc formats; DVD and CD-DA
    - Plays (should play???) DVD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 and VCD
    Video Decoder; MPEG-2
    Video Digital-Analog-Converter; 10 bit
    Audio Decoder; MPEG
    Audio Digital-Analog-Converter; 24 bit
    I have NO idea what I'm doing wrong at all, so if ANYBODY could help me outta this mess, that would be great ... Most of all because I can already throw away about 12 CD-R's
    Does the Video Decoder (MPEG-2) mean I can simply burn a mpeg-2 on a disc and play ??? Because I tried that, and this time, my DVD Player recognised the CD-R, but it wouldn't play do I need to use another CD-Format ??? The standard VCD's that have been written, contain these files;
    CDI;
    *CDI_IMAG.RTF
    *CDI_TEXT.FNT
    *CDI_VCD.APP
    *CDI_VCD.CFG
    EXT;
    -
    MPEGAV;
    *AVSEQ01.DAT
    SEGMENT;
    -
    VCD;
    *ENTRIES.VCD
    *INFO.VCD

    So ... Am I doing something really wrong here ... or is it such a bad DVD Player, and do you suggest I get another (better?¿?) one ?
    Thnx anyway ...

  2. have you checked for your dvd player in the list(dvd players compatibility list on the left side)?
    you might want to try cd-rws they are often more compatible. you might want to try to do a small vcd compressed through nero just to see if that will work(less chances of making mistakes)
