I've re-authored many dvds with dvd shrink connecting to nero 7 and they've all played in my entertainment center dvd player (samsung dvd-5500).
This weekend I tried dvd flick for the first time and then re-authored the converted files in dvd shrink. the resulting dvds played in my computer dvd drive through PowerDVD, but not in my stand alone dvd player (the samsung). I got this error message upon inserting the dvd:
This disc cannot be played.
Please check the TV system.
Any suggestions?
thanks,

Please don't cross post. I deleted your 2 other topics.

Like many new members, you have incorrectly assumed that the less you tell us, the more likely you are to get help. This is incorrect. My best guess based on what little information you gave is that you used DVD Flick to convert some sort of downloaded file to DVD format. The downloaded file probably had a PAL type resolution and frame rate. Having never used DVD Flick, I am guessing that you converted it to a PAL DVD and your Samsung is unable to play it. The quick solution would be to convert it to NTSC DVD format, but such conversions can be tricky and I wouldn't count on DVD Flick being able to do that very well, although it probably can do it.

FAVC is currently better suited for PAL to NTSC conversion, although I believe the latest DVD Flick beta now uses the pulldown conversion method.
What I don't understand is why you would use DVD Shrink to re-author a disc you were authoring oyurself in the first place. Why not just author correctly first time ?Read my blog here.

guns1inger,
just seemed like the most comfortable way to do it. i used the dvd flick for just the conversions, but i like dvd shrink to author (only did one authoring, but the button to do that happens to be called "re-authoring") because of the additional features dvd shrink offers (i.e. trimming the video and compression).
I want to thank you both for your solutions. I won't be able to retry this project until the weekend, but did look in dvd flick's project settings and it appears that PAL is the default. should be cake from here.
thanks,

(Baldrick, sorry for the cross posts. I was confused about which forum to place this in.)
